See you all there!

Tree fruit in Fairbanks, and an intro to hugelkultur, at our November 3rd meeting – a recap

If you missed it, that will be a lesson to you to put our monthly Master Gardener meetings on your calendar! On Nov. 3rd, we enjoyed listening to Vic Johansen expound on his theories of letting plants grow, without too much interference from the gardener. He showed slides of his beautiful fruit trees, compared notes on apple varieties and their tastes and growing habits, and told us about his special hugelkultur beds. I don’t think I’ve heard anything quite like it before, and he sent us some photos to share.

Pictured clockwise from top left are: Early gold pears, carmine jewel cherries, trailman apples, a hugelkultur bed, and potatoes harvested from a hugelkultur bed.
