Treasures in the weeds!

radishes I

It’s always dangerous to leave in the summer, and return to a mass of weeds. But sometimes there are surprises hidden in the weeds! I just came home to these. No root maggots! Hooray.

  1. Did you do anything special. I’ve never been able to grow radishes yet with out root maggets unless I planted them in August, or kept them covered with a row cover.

  2. I didn’t do anything special – just planted them a bit earlier. My later ones have a little bit of root maggot action, and are more woody. Maybe the flies weren’t active yet?
